Pakistan asked to follow Bangladesh’s development model
Noted Pakistani journalist Zaigham Khan, while taking part in a recently telecast talk-show styled ‘Awaam’ on Capital TV, advised the newly elected Prime Minister of Pakistan to follow the development model of Bangladesh to ensure Pakistan’s progress and development. Imran Khan-led ruling party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) is reportedly planning to follow the governance model of Sweden which has the lowest level s of national debt, low inflation and relatively healthy banking system among the EU countries.

বাংলাদেশে অগাস্ট মাস শোকের মাস। উনিশশো পঁচাত্তর সালের ১৫ অগাস্টের অভিশপ্ত রাতে এক দল সেনা অফিসার রাষ্ট্রের জনক শেখ মুজিবুর রহমান এবং দু'জন বাদে তাঁর পরিবারের সবাইকে বর্বর ভাবে হত্যা করেছিল।

বাংলাদেশের প্রথম সামরিক একনায়ক তথা বিএনপি-র প্রতিষ্ঠাতা জেনারেল জিয়াউর রহমান থেকে শুরু করে খালেদা জিয়ার দ্বিতীয় দফার শাসনকাল(২০০১-০৬) পর্যন্ত এই দীর্ঘ সময় ধরে রাষ্ট্রের জনক শেখ মুজিবুর রহমানের হত্যাকারীরা বিভিন্ন রকমের পৃষ্ঠপোষকতা পেয়ে এসেছেন। ১৯৭৫ সালের ১৫ই অগাস্ট নৃশংসভাবে সপরিবারে হত্যা করা করা হয়েছিল শেখ মুজিবকে।
National Mourning Day
Bangladesh observed August 15 as National Mourning Day. On this day in 1975 the founding father of Bangladesh, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was brutally assassinated with all members of his family.
Mujib-killers were extended state patronage
Ever since the days of Bangladesh’s first military dictator-cum-BNP founder Gen Ziaur Rahman up to the Khaleda Zia regime (2001-06), the killers of the country’s founding father Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who was assassinated on August 15, 1975, enjoyed various state facilities and patronage.

২৩শে জুন, ২০১৮ তে আওয়ামী লীগ তাদের ৬৯তম বার্ষিকী পালন করল। শুরুতে দলের নাম ছিল আওয়ামী মুসলিম লীগ। পরে, ১৯৫৫ সালে, 'মুসলিম' শব্দটি বাদ দিয়ে পার্টির নতুন নাম হয় আওয়ামী লীগ এবং এইভাবেই দেশে ধর্মনিরপেক্ষ রাজনীতির পথে যাত্রা শুরু হয় তাদের।
Awami League: 69 years of journey
On June 23, 2018 the Awami League celebrated its 69th anniversary. The party was initially named Awami Muslim League. Subsequently, it was renamed Awami League by dropping ‘Muslim’ from it in 1955, thus initiating the journey of secular politics in the country.

Public opinion surveys place Awami League ahead
Most of the public opinion surveys during the last two years indicate that the Awami League (AL) as a party and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as a leader are more popular than BNP and its leaders Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman. The surveys show a steady progression in the number of people who think the country is progressing in right direction under the Sheikh Hasina-led government.
