Pakistan SC grants bail to Musharraf
Quetta, Oct 9 : The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Wednesday granted bail to former Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf after hearing a plea moved by him in connection with the Nawab Akbar Bugti murder case.
"The bench observed that substantial evidence was not available to involve Musharraf in the criminal conspiracy regarding Bugti’s murder and granted bail to the former president," Pakistan\'s DawnNews reported.
The Pakistan\'s apex court ordered Musharraf to pay two bail bonds of Rs 1 million each.
Musharraf is accused of conspiring the killing of Baloch nationalist leader Akbar Khan Bugti in 2006.
Pakistani Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) had earlier indicted former Musharraf and seven others for conspiracy to murder ex-Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.
In a brief hearing in Rawalpindi, the court had indicted him on three charges of murder, conspiracy to murder and facilitation of murder.
Musharraf, however, denied the charges.
He is also accused of conspiring the murder of Bhutto in 2007.
He returned to Pakistan in March after years of self-exile in the UK.
Musharraf rose to power in Pakistan in a coup in 1999. He had stepped down from the power in 2008 and was threatened with impeachment, which resulted in his self-exile.
