Dhaka, April 3: The High Court granted six-week anticipatory bail to Daily Prothom Alo editor Motiur Rahman in the Digital Security Act case. During this period, he has to appear in the Metropolitan Sessions Judge's court and submit a bail bond.

The High Court bench consisting of Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and Justice Md. Aminul Islam gave this order on Sunday. This bail application was made in the relevant branch of the High Court this morning. Prashant Kumar Karmakar, the lawyer for the editor of Prothom Alo said this.

Senior lawyers barrister Fida M Kamal, Zahirul Islam (ZI) Khan Panna, Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Imtiaz Mahmud and Prashant Kumar Karmkar heard on behalf of Prothom Alo editor in the court. Additional Attorney General Barrister Mohammad Mehedi Hasan Chowdhury and Deputy Attorney General Sujeed Chatterjee Bappi and Deputy Attorney General Md Shaheen Ahmed Khan were present at the hearing of the state side.

During the bail hearing, Mehdi Hasan Chowdhury, the lawyer for the state, said that the government did not make this complaint against Prothom Alo. This information has emerged in the report of another journalist. Then the court said that the complaint could have been taken to the Press Council. In response, the Additional Attorney General said, they made a mistake and retracted it. The matter is that he pocketed the money and returned the money.

The court said Prothom Alo has corrected their mistake. Because of this they will get legal benefits. Everyone has an equal right to the protection of law. Lawyer Abdul Malek filed a case against Prothom Alo editor Matiur Rahman at Ramna police station of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on the night of March 29. In this case, Savar's own reporter Shamsuzzaman Shams and cameraman were also accused.

It is stated in the statement of the case that on March 26, a news with a picture was published on the website of Dainik Prothom Alo on the Great Independence Day. At the same time, Dainik Prothom Alo shared the report on their verified Facebook page. The news shows a child standing at the gate of the National Memorial with a flower in his hand. The reporter claims that the child's name is Zakir Hossain. In the report of the newspaper, it is mentioned that the child Zakir Hossain said - "If you don't get rice in your stomach, what will you do with freedom?"
