1,642 Rohingyas reached Bhasanchar from Cox's Bazar

Dhaka, December 4: Bhasanchar has welcomed 1,642 Rohingyas who have taken refuge in Bangladesh after being displaced from Myanmar. When they arrived at noon on Friday (December 4), everyone's body temperature was measured as a precation to the coronavirus. After washing their hands, they were taken to their residence by car from the jetty. The members of the navy helped the children to move there. Many Rohingyas have expressed relief on reaching the island.

Earlier in the morning, the first delegation of Rohingyas left Balukhali camp in Ukhiya, Cox's Bazar. Various banners have been put up in Bhasanchar to welcome the Rohingyas. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's banners have also been hung there. Sheikh Hasina has been mentioned as the Mother of Humanity.

Various local and foreign non-governmental development organizations (NGOs) are working alongside the government for the development of the Rohingyas who have taken refuge in Bangladesh after being displaced from Myanmar.

It has been alleged that NGOs have been opposing the relocation of these displaced people to Bhasanchar.

Asked about this, Jasmine Prema, chairman of Samaj Kalyan Unnayan Shangstha (SKUS), said, "All preparations have been completed by the government and the navy. We have started work of 22 NGOs here. Today, all kinds of intelligence agencies and law enforcement agencies, including the navy, have taken responsibility for entertaining the Rohingyas who are coming to Bhasanchar."

She said, "Subsequent preparations have been made for the care of Rohingyas." This includes food and health care. There are special arrangements for children and women. There are government women officers for women. Besides, we are on behalf of many NGOs. They will definitely be fine here. '

Earlier, representatives of these NGOs visited the housing for Rohingyas in Bhasanchar more than once and expressed satisfaction over the well-planned arrangements made by the government.

It is learned that till November 29, the government and NGOs have taken 6 tons of food items to Bhasanchar. The first two months they will be provided with cooked food. Then they will be able to cook at their respective residences.

Buffaloes, sheep, ducks and pigeons are being reared there for conducting economic activities. Different types of vegetables are being planted. Paddy is also being cultivated experimentally.
