Dhaka, November 4: Bangladesh has decided to shut down coal-fired power plants to reduce carbon emissions in response to climate change. Ten coal-fired power plants have been shut down. Discussions are underway on how to close six more centers. Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen told reporters at the Bangladesh Pavilion at the Glasgow Climate Conference on Wednesday (November 3).

The Minister said, "We are moving towards the perspective plan. The IMF will assist us in implementing this plan. Dhaka-Glasgow will walk the same path on how to reduce carbon emissions. World leaders have praised us for shutting down coal-fired power plants. All the steps taken by the present government to tackle climate change have been appreciated.

"Once again, there was talk of securing USD 100 billion in funding for the affected countries," he said.

Dr. Momen said the countries that emit more carbon in principle did not object. However, the leaders of many countries do not agree to pay for the damage caused by climate change. However, after so many discussions, it has been added to the agenda this time. Various conditions are also being given for the money that is being promised.

The minister added that Bangladesh has announced its decision to shut down coal-fired power projects to reduce carbon emissions in response to climate change. Bangladesh is tackling climate change by considering sustainable development goals.
