100% waste disposal in Dhaka North City in 8 hours

Dhaka, June 30: Cent percent of Qurbani waste has been removed within eight hours in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) area, as it had been promised by DNCC Mayor Md. Atiqul Islam.

DNCC Mayor said, with everyone's cooperation, it has been possible to remove 100 percent of the waste from the Qorbani of Dhaka North City before the previously announced eight hours. We have been able to do this with the sincere cooperation of conscious citizens. I sincerely thank the people of the city. People and City Corporation have to work together to keep Dhaka city clean in the coming days.

Mayor Atiqul Islam officially inaugurated the waste management programme in Manipur area of Ward No. 13 of Dhaka North City around 2 pm on Thursday. The waste removal programme started from 2 pm and at 9:30 pm, in less than eight hours, 100 percent waste removal was completed in all the wards. About 14,500 metric tons of waste has been removed in 2,713 trips till 9:30 pm on the day of Eid in 10 regions of DNCC.

According to the report of DNCC waste department, 100 percent waste removal has been completed in all areas of 54 wards. Out of this, all the waste of ward number 16 has been collected and kept in STS. They are being transferred to landfill.

DNCC Mayor Atiqul Islam toured various areas to inspect and directly supervise the Qorbani waste disposal operations. After the official inauguration, he visited Manipur area. After that he personally visited the waste management activities of Uttara area including Agargaon, Mohammadpur, Farmgate, Moghbazar, Madhubagh, Rampura, Khilgaon, Pragati Sarani.

In addition, five groups of five officers were formed to oversee the ten regions of the DNCC. About 11,000 workers were engaged in removing the waste within the stipulated time.
