120 million dollar to be invested in Bangabandhu High-tech city

Dhaka, November 8, 2021: Out of a total of 60 domestic and foreign investors in Bangabandhu Hi-Tech City in Kaliakair, Gazipur, a few companies have already invested US 120.8 million and 460 people have been employed. By 2025, the amount of investment will be 1264.84 million dollars and 41 thousand 279 people will be employed.

Shafiqul Islam, director (finance) of Bangabandhu Hi-Tech Park, said on Saturday (November 7th) that the eco-friendly high-tech park would accelerate the country's socio-economic prosperity through the development and growth of high-tech industries. It is the first high-tech park in the country.

Initially 232 acres of land was allotted for the park and later the government allotted another 96 acres for the park and now the total land in Bangabandhu Hi-Tech City is 355 acres. 355 acres of land is divided into five blocks. In Hi-Tech City, government-funded infrastructure has been built for the convenience of investors.

Major supporting infrastructures include construction of internal main road, internal road (branch road), construction of bridges and six culverts, construction of internal power lines, construction of water supply lines and reservoirs, construction of boundary wall, construction of custom house / service building, 20 MW power plant. Construction of sub-station, sewerage line and sewage treatment plant, 48 core optical fiber connection, gas connection, construction of main road and alternative road street light and lake development developer.

70 companies have been allowed to invest in this park. Of these, 12 organizations have started work. According to the law, if an organization is allowed, the work has to start within six months and the construction has to be completed within three years. Each institution is allowed for 40 years. However, due to not being able to work on time, leases of 15-16 companies have been canceled so far.
