Dhaka, Jan 30: The Awami League has formed a new government after getting the majority in the 12th National Parliament elections. The first parliament session is starting today (Tuesday, January 30) with all the MPs who won the 12th national parliament election.

Before the first session of the new MPs in the 12th Parliament, President Md. Shahabuddin will deliver a speech according to custom.

The Jatiya Party wants to play the role of the opposition party with only 11 seats to the Awami League government party which has an absolute majority in this parliament. However, despite the small number of seats, Jatiya Party members have expressed interest in playing the role of an effective opposition party in Parliament. However, there are independent members of parliament who won 62 seats almost six times more than them.

According to the Parliament Secretariat, the term of the 11th Parliament ended on Monday (January 29). The official journey of the twelfth parliament is going to start from Tuesday through the session. In the 12th National Parliament, the ruling party Awami League got the majority by getting 223 seats.

On the other hand, Jatiya Party will play the role of the opposition party in Parliament with only 11 seats and it is said that 62 independent candidates will be next to Awami League.

The first session of this parliament will be held on Tuesday at 3 pm under the chairmanship of Deputy Speaker Advocate Md. Shamsul Haque Tuku.

Election of Speaker and Deputy Speaker will be held at the beginning of the session. A condolence proposal will then be raised. President Md. Shahabuddin will address the parliament later. He will make a directive speech about the success of the government and what to do in the future. Later, members of the government and opposition parties will discuss the motion of thanks brought on that speech in the whole session.
