17 militants and 3 KNF members arrested
Dhaka, February 8: The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested 17 members of the new militant organization Jama'atul Ansar Fil Hindal Sharqiya. At the same time, three members of the hill separatist organization Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) have been arrested.
Earlier, 38 members of Jama'atul Ansar Fil Hindal Sharqiya were arrested. With this, law enforcement forces arrested 55 members of this new militant organization.
RAB Legal and Media Wing Director Commander Khandaker Al Moin said this on Tuesday.
He said that in the early morning of Tuesday, the RAB fired with the members of the armed group Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) and the new militant organization Jama'atul Ansar Fil Hindal Sharqiya in the area adjacent to Remakri Bridge in Thanchi Upazila of Bandarban. RAB arrested 17 members of Jamaatul Hindal and three members of KNF after firing in stages. He also said that eight RAB members were injured in the firing.
A large amount of domestic and foreign weapons, bomb-making equipment, ammunition, and cash worth Tk 7 lakh have been recovered during RAB's day-long operation in the hills.
