18 MoUs will be signed with 5 countries
Dhaka, March 16: During the visit of the head of the governments of five countries to Dhaka on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of Independence and Mujib Borsho, 18 MoUs will be signed. Preparations have been made in this regard. That is why this tour is not just a formality. Bilateral meetings and memoranda of understanding with different countries are also gaining importance during the visit.
According to sources, heads of state and government of five countries are coming to Dhaka in between March 17 and March 27, to take part in the golden jubilee of independence and Mujib Borsho.
Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih will attend the inaugural ceremony on the first day tomorrow, March 17.
During his visit to Dhaka, the Maldivian President will hold bilateral meetings with President Md. Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. At that time, 4 MoUs will be signed with Maldives in different sectors of Bangladesh. There will also be discussions on providing facilities to Bangladeshi workers in the Maldives.
Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa will arrive in Dhaka on March 19. He will then hold meetings with the President and the Prime Minister. During the meeting, preparations have been made to sign 5 MoUs between the two countries.
Nepal's President Bidya Devi Bhandari will arrive in Dhaka on March 22. This is the first official visit of a President of Nepal to Bangladesh. During the visit of the President of Nepal to Dhaka, preparations have been made to sign 4 MoUs between the two countries.
Bhutan's Prime Minister Lotay Tshering will arrive on March 24. Two memoranda of understanding could be signed during the Bhutanese Prime Minister's visit to Dhaka.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in Dhaka on March 26. A meeting between the Prime Ministers of the two countries will be held on March 26. At the end of the meeting, preparations have been made to sign 3 MoUs.
One of the three MoUs to be signed with India is Disaster Management Cooperation. The other two are co-operation between the institutions in the two countries on education, research and training.
According to foreign ministry sources, preparations are underway to sign a memorandum of understanding with each country during the visit of the heads of state and government of the five countries.
