20 lakh vaccines will come on the special flight of Air India

Dhaka, January 19: India will gift 2 million doses of Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine to Bangladesh to prevent coronavirus. The consignment of vaccines will reach Bangladesh on Wednesday.

The 2 million doses of the vaccine will arrive at the airport on Wednesday (January 20) on a special Air India flight. A letter has been sent to the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism to waive all charges including ground handling charges for this particular aircraft.

A letter to this effect was sent to the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism on Monday (January 18) signed by Touhid Imam, Senior Assistant Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The letter said the Indian government would gift the Oxford-AstraZeneca 20 million dose of Covid-19 vaccine to the Bangladesh government. The vaccine is expected to arrive in Dhaka on January 20 on a special Air India flight. The letter requested for waiver of all charges including ground handling charges of Air India special aircraft.

Earlier on Monday (January 18), Health Minister Zahid Maleque said at a function in the capital that the Indian government would give some vaccines as gifts to Bangladesh. It can come to the country at any time. The minister said the first lot of Tk 30 million under our agreement with Serum Institute will come on 25-26. How the vaccination center will be, where the vaccination will be given, how it will be kept - all these have been fixed. It also talks about how to manage side effects.
