21 out of 55 youth who left home to join Jamatul Ansar absconding: RAB

Dhaka, March 3: The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has so far identified 33 of the 55 youth who left their homes in response to the call of the new militant organization 'Jamatul Ansar Fil Hindal Sharqiya'.

RAB Legal and Media Wing Director Commander Khandaker Al Moin said these things in a press conference at RAB media center in the capital on Thursday. He said, 12 of them have been arrested so far, the remaining 21 are absconding. Those who have been found to be in the training camp of the militant organization.

RAB informed this information after recovering the video content of Amir Anisur Rahman alias Mahmud of Jamaatul Ansar Fil Hindal Sharqiya and Abdullah Maimun, the head of Dawati branch and extremist statements about money collection. On February 28, RAB arrested four more people who were training in the hills. Among them, this new video was recovered from the arrested Al-Amin alias Milduk.

He also said that a video was recovered from Masukur Rahman alias Ranveer, the head of the military wing of the newly arrested militant organization on January 23. A total of 29 militants were identified in that video. A new 7-minute long video recovered on February 28 identified 23 more militants. Out of these 23 militants, 19 were present in the previous video, while four new militants were found.

The new four are Sheikh Ahmed Mamun alias Ramesh, Shamim Mia alias Baklai alias Razan, Nizam Uddin Hiron and Dr. Zahirul Islam alias Ahmed. According to the video, Dr. Zahirul died on June 6 last year.

Stating that a total of 33 people in the training camp of the militants have been identified in the two videos, he said, 12 of them have been arrested. The operation to arrest the rest is ongoing.
