212 vehicles set on fire in a month during oppositions' strike-blockade

Dhaka, Nov 28: It is going to be almost a month of the strike-blockade programme called by BNP and like-minded opposition parties. The fire service and civil defence said that miscreants set fire to a total of 212 vehicles including 132 buses across the country from October 28 till 6 am on November 28.

According to the fire service, there were 223 fire incidents in the last one month. Of these, 212 are in vehicles and the rest are in installations.

The Fire Service has received reports of five vehicles being set on fire across the country in the last 24 hours since Monday morning. Reports of vehicles being set on fire came from Dhaka, Habiganj, Pabna, Tangail and Khulna.

A train compartment, three buses and a truck were damaged in the fire incidents. Ten units and 50 members of fire service and civil defence work to extinguish the fire.

According to the fire service, from October 28 till 6 am on November 28, 132 buses, 35 trucks, 16 covered vans, eight motorcycles, two private cars, three microbuses, three pickups, three CNGs, three trains and three lagunas, one fire service vehicle, one police car, one boat and an ambulances were set on fire.
