22 die with Covid-19 in a day; 692 new cases recorded

Dhaka, January 9: Coronavirus has killed 22 more people across the country in the last 24 hours. The death toll from the epidemic rose to 7,756, an offical press release said.

In the last 24 hours, 12,523 samples were collected and 12,908 samples were tested in 181 laboratories. The total number of sample tests stood at 33,44,399.

In the last 24 hours, 692 new patients with the coronavirus infection have been identified. The total number of identified patients in the country is 5,21,382.

Meanwhile, 785 people, including asymptomatic patients, have recovered in the last 24 hours at various hospitals and homes in the country, including the capital. So far, a total of 4,66,064 people have recovered.

In the last 24 hours, the sample test rate is 5.36 percent. So far, the detection rate is 15.59 percent considering the sample test, the recovery rate is 89.39 percent and the death rate is 1.49 percent.

Of the 22 people who died in the last 24 hours, 17 were from Dhaka, two each from Chittagong and Rajshahi divisions and one from Mymensingh division.

On March 8, 2020, the first coronavirus patient was identified in the country. Ten days later, on March 18, the first Covid patient died. As of January 9, a total of 7,756 people have died. Of these, 5,895 are males (76.01 percent) and 1,861 are females (23. 99 percent).
