23 die with coronavirus within 24 hours, 684 new cases recorded

Dhaka, January 2: In the last 24 hours, 23 more people have died due to coronavirus in the country. A total of 7,599 people have died. Six hundred eighty four people have been newly identified. In all, the number of victims stands at 5,15,184 people.

It said 974 people, including asymptomatic patients, have recovered in the last 24 hours at various hospitals and homes across the country, including Dhaka City. So far, a total of four lakh 59 thousand 720 people have recovered.

Samples have been collected and tested in 180 labs under public and private management across the country. Of these, 114 are RT-PCR labs, 26 are gene-experts and 40 are rapid antigens. Nine thousand 509 samples have been collected in these labs in the last 24 hours. A total of 9,601 samples including the previous samples have been tested. So far 32 lakh 49 thousand 402 samples have been tested.

It was further informed that the rate of sample test in the last 24 hours is 7.05 percent. So far, the detection rate is 15.65 percent considering the sample test, the recovery rate is 69.21 percent considering the identified test and the death rate is 1.46 percent considering the identified test.

In the notification, Nasima Sultana said, out of 23 people killed in 24 hours, 18 were men and six were women.

Among them there are 14 in Dhaka division and three in Rangpur division. Chittagong and Mymensingh divisions have two each. Besides, there are one or two in Rajshahi and Khulna divisions. Of them, 23 died at the hospital.

The age analysis of the dead showed that there were 11 people over the age of 60, seven people between the ages of 51 and 60, two people between the ages of 41 and 50, two people between the ages of 31 and 40 and one person between the ages of 21 and 30.

He said 105 people have come to isolation in the last 24 hours and 98 people have been exempted from isolation. So far 96 thousand 561 people have come in isolation. 65,145 people have taken clearance from isolation. At present there are 11 thousand 417 people in isolation.
