Dhaka, November 10: A team of RAB-7 has arrested a drug dealer along with 38,575 pieces of yaba after searching a mini-vehicle at Bhatiari on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway. The contraband substance was rescued in the early hours of Monday (November 9) on a tip-off.

Mahmudur Rahman Mamun, media officer of RAB-7, said that the law enforcement agency could find out through secret news that some drug dealers were going to Feni from Chittagong with a huge quantity of yaba in a mini truck.

On the basis of this news, a team of RAB set up a special check post on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway in front of the Sea Side Filling Station at North Salimpur of Sitakunda Police Station and started searching the vehicle.

At that time, the RAB members signaled a truck to stop after its movement seemed suspicious.

When the truck tried to flee without stopping, the RAB members chased and caught the drug dealer Sumon Barua (32). At that time, 38,575 pieces of yaba hidden inside the toolbox of the truck were recovered.

The arrested Sumon is the son of Benu Madhab Barua of Barua Para of Senbagh Police Station in Noakhali district.

RAB officer Mahmudur Rahman Mamun said that the accused Sumon and the recovered drugs have been handed over to Sitakunda Model Police Station for further legal action.
