Own Correspondent, Dhaka, July 23: State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid mentioned that the ongoing crisis with electricity is temporary. The state minister assured that this problem will be resolved soon as 4,000 MW electricity will be added to the national grid in a few months.

The Minister of State said this in a post on his verified Facebook page on Friday (July 22) evening.

Nasrul Hamid wrote, 'We have always said that the current crisis is temporary. This problem will not last long. However, we apologize to our esteemed customers for the current power issue and seek everyone's cooperation. To solve the crisis, we are forced to provide scheduled load shedding across the country. However, a new plan will be taken regarding load shedding after observing for a week."

He also wrote, "In the next few months, the second unit of Payra thermal power plant and Rampal power plant will be commissioned. At the same time, if the import of 1,600 MW of electricity from Adani Power Plant in India starts, more than 4,000 MW of electricity will be added to our national grid. Please be patient with everyone. We need your cooperation in this difficult time."

Earlier in the afternoon, the state minister briefed the journalists at his residence in Gulshan of the capital. Meanwhile, he asked for 7-10 days to ensure one-hour load shedding announced by the government.

Nasrul Hamid said, "One-hour load shedding was announced by the government to save electricity. However, there are reports of load shedding even more than this across the country. It will take some more time to solve this problem. It will take another 7-10 days to gather data to coordinate load shedding."
