4.3 magnitude earthquake rocks Dhaka
Dhaka, May 5: A mild earthquake jolted Dhaka and its adjacent areas on Friday early morning.
According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake was felt at 5:57 am. Bangladesh time on Friday morning. Its magnitude was 4.3 on the Richter scale.
The epicenter of the earthquake was 14.2 km west-northwest of Dhaka's Dohar, 23.4 km north-northeast of Azimpur and 24.7 km east-northeast of Narayanganj. The origin of the earthquake was 10.0 km below the surface.
There were no immediate reports of damage from the mild quake. However, many people were frightened by the shaking in the morning.
