Dhaka, June 29: Four people were killed in Sirajganj after a truck hit a pick-up van loaded with cattle. Several others were injured. The accident took place on Thursday (June 29) morning in Pukurpar area of Hatikumrul-Banpara highway.

Police and locals said that in the morning Hatikumrulgami rammed a truck loaded with beef and a pickup truck loaded with cattle. At that time, the pickup overturned and six people including the driver were injured. Four people died on the way to the hospital after rescuing the injured. At that time, three cows in the pickup also died.

The deceased are Sujan (30) son of Habibur Rahman of Phulkari village of Gaibandha Sadar, Rabbi (25) son of Subuz Ali of Hasilkandi village of Saghata police station of the same district, Rana (32) son of Sohrab Ali of Belbaria area of Natore and Ayan (32) son of Shariful Islam of Tamaltala area of Bagatipara police station of Natore. 4).

Hatikumrul Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Badrul Kabir said four people were killed in the accident. The body was recovered and kept in the police station. The injured have been admitted to a local hospital.

He said, a pickup was going from Dhaka to Rajshahi after selling cows. At the same time, the pickup collided head-on with a Dhaka-bound truck coming from the direction of Rajshahi in Pukurpar area. Four people died on the spot. Two others were seriously injured in the incident.

He also said that the injured were rescued and sent to Sirajganj 250-bed Bangmata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib General Hospital. Members of the Hatikumrul Highway Police Station are at the scene. The dead bodies were recovered and the two cars involved in the accident were seized and taken to Hatikumrul Highway Police Station. Legal process is ongoing in this case.
