Habiganj Boat Capsize 4 women killed in Habiganj boat capsize
Own Correspondent, Dhaka, July 14: Four women have died as a boat capsized in Habiganj. They were residents of Shikarpur village of Tegharia Union of Sadar Upazila.
The accident took place at Gungiajuri Haor in the upazila on Wednesday (July 13) night. The deceased were identified as Nelli Begum, 50, wife of Sarafat Ullah of Shikarpur village, Zarina Begum, 45, wife of Abdul Hamid, Hurbanu, 45, wife of Raushan Ullah and Ayatunnesa, 35, wife of Kabir Miah.
Abdul Karim, a member of Snanghat Union of Bahubal Upazila, said that an engine-driven boat was going from Snanghat to Shikarpur village of Sadar Upazila at night. The boat suddenly capsized when it reached Rouail Haor. Four women drowned in the Haor water. The bodies were recovered from the spot.
Habiganj Fire Service Assistant Manager Shimul Md. Rafi said, "Four women died in this accidnt. The remaining four were rescued alive."
