Dhaka, January 15: The government is traning 42,000 workers to administer the vaccine. Health Minister Zahid Maleque told reporters after a meeting on the coronavirus vaccine at the Health Ministry's conference room on Thursday afternoon.

"We are training 42,000 workers to administer the vaccine, including technologists, nurses, midwives and volunteers. An app is being developed to make the vaccine more effective. The Ministry of ICT is developing it," he said.

"We are cooperating with them as required. Vaccine candidates can register through the apps. If they provide some information there, they will be registered. Later they will get the time and place to receive the vaccine. If they follow the rules, they can get the vaccine."

Zahid Maleque further said, "We have already said who will be vaccinated. Those who are frontliners, such as doctors, nurses, technologists, journalists, army, police, transport workers will get it first. We are thinking of vaccinating those above the age of 55 in phases."

He said, "The first batch of vaccines is expected to arrive between January 25-26. We have made arrangements to transport and store the vaccines. It will be possible to store more than 7,00,000 doses of vaccines in each district. We can store more than 2,00,000 doses in upazilas."

The health minister further said that a high-powered national committee has been set up to ensure proper implementation of vaccine application. The Chief Secretary will be the head of this committee. The vaccine committee will work under his leadership. Committees have also been formed at district and upazila level. All kinds of cooperation is being given to that committee from the Ministry of Health.
