Election 431 candidates apply to EC to get back their candidature
Dhaka, Dec 9: Four hundred and thirty-one people have applied to withdraw their candidature against the selection of nomination papers of the returning officers in the 12th National Parliament Elections. There were 42 appeals on the first day. On the second day, 141 candidates appealed, on the third day, 155 and today on the fourth day, 93 candidates appealed.
This information is known from EC sources on Friday. At this time, the appeal application was also submitted against the valid candidate. Seventeen candidates from Dhaka region, 11 from Comilla, nine from Chittagong, five from Faridpur, four from Sylhet, 14 from Mymensingher, four from Barisal, 11 from Khulna, 13 from Rajshahi and 5 candidates from Rangpur region have appealed.
In this year's national election, 2,716 nomination papers were filed in 300 seats. Among them, 731 persons were canceled by the returning officers during selection. Candidates can appeal against the decision of the returning officer till December 9. And the Election Commission will decide the appeal from December 10 to 15.
Last date for withdrawal of candidature is December 17. The returning officers will allot the symbols on December 18. The election campaign will continue till 8 am on January 5. And the voting will be on January 7.
