45 deaths within 24 hours, country records lowest cases in eight weeks

Dhaka, May 8: In the last 24 hours, 45 more people have died in the country due to the deadly coronavirus (Covid-19). With this, the number of deaths in Corona in the country has increased to 11,878.

In the last 24 hours, another 1,285 new patients have been identified, which is the lowest detected after 55 days or about eight weeks.

Earlier, on March 14, 1,159 people were found dead in the country. In all, the number of coronavirus patients in the country is now 7,72,127.

In the last 24 hours, 2,492 people have recovered from the disease, the health department said in a press release. As a result, the total number of healthy patients stood at 6,06,833.

In the last 24 hours, 14,703 coronavirus samples have been tested. The virus was detected in 1,285 people. Considering the sample test in 24 hours, the detection rate is 8.74 percent.

The coronavirus, which spread from Wuhan, China, in December 2019, was detected in Bangladesh on March 8, 2020. On that day, the Department of Health announced the identification of the first coronavirus patient in the country. The first Covid death was reported in on March 18. Then the rate of infection and death gradually increases. However, the situation came under control from late December to February this year.

But since March, there has been an upward trend in the figure. The number of identified patients began to increase. Death also increases. The highest singl-day death toll in the country was reported on April 19 as 112 people died. The highest single day identification of 7,626 people was took place on April 7.
