Jamaat 45 Jamaat leaders detained
Dhaka, May 15, 2022: Police have arrested 45 Jamaat leaders and activists from a secret anti-government rally in Noakhali.
They were arrested on Sunday (May 15) at around 12:30 pm from the Al Farooq Academy School in the district town of Maijdi.
District Superintendent of Police (SP) said. Shahidul Islam said 45 leaders and activists from different upazilas of Noakhali were detained from a secret anti-government meeting. During this time, books containing various types of religious extremism were recovered from them.
He added that it was initially known that the secret meeting was organized in preparation for anti-government illegal activities aimed at creating a volatile environment by capitalizing on religious extremism. Legal issues are in the process of being further investigated.
