5 killed in bus-truck collision in Sirajganj

Dhaka, February 23: Five people have been killed in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck at Kamarkhand in Sirajganj. At least 14 passengers were injured in the accident that took place at around 8 am on Tuesday (February 23) on the Bangabandhu Bridge West Link Highway in Konabari area of Kamarkhand.

Among the dead is a heroic freedom fighter named Fazlur Rahman (70). He is the son of Mokshed Ali of Shahjahanpur police station in Bogra district. Besides, Shri Bimal (45), son of Shri Dhiren Chandra of Sherpur Upazila of the same district and Abdul Hannan (60), son of Abul Hossain of Tamai village of Belkuchi Upazila of Sirajganj have been identified. The names of the others were not known.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bangabandhu Bridge West Police Station Mosaddek Hossain said a passenger bus of Jugantar Enterprise bound for Mymensingh from Bogra reached Konabari area of ​​Kamarkhand on the highway at around 8am on Tuesday. When the bus collided head-on with a North Bengal-bound truck, the bus twisted and fell into a ditch on the side of the road.

Upon receiving the news, the police and fire service members reached the spot and recovered the bodies of the four. At least 15 injured people were rushed to Sirajganj's 250-bed Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib General Hospital. Another died on the way to the hospital.
