Gopalganj Train Accident 5 workers killed after being hit by train in Kashiani of Gopalganj
Own Correspondent, Dhaka, July 22: Five construction workers were killed after being hit by 'Tungipara Express' leaving from Rajshahi.
The accident took place on Thursday (July 21) at 9 pm at Kagdi rail crossing area of Kashiani upazila of Gopalganj. Several others were injured in this incident. The injured have been admitted to Kashiani Upazila 100-bed hospital.
The victims have not been identified yet. However, their homes are in Parulia and Lakshmipur villages of Parulia Union of the upazila. They were returning home from construction work.
Kashiani police station OC Sawgatul Alam confirmed the information and said that the accident took place at Kagdi railway crossing area of the upazila around 9 pm. There, five construction workers were killed and few others were injured.
Locals said that after completing the construction work, those workers were crossing the railway crossing with the casting mixer machine. At that time, the Gopalganj bound 'Tungipara Express' train leaving Rajshahi hit them. Five workers were killed on the spot.
