Dhaka, January 17: From now on, 50 year olds will also get booster dose of coronavirus vaccine. Health Minister Zahid Maleque told reporters on Monday (January 18th) in the conference room of the health ministry at the secretariat.

"We have vaccinations in place," he said. "We're going with a ticker booster dose. The booster dose did not make much progress. Because not everyone has completed six months. So far I have been able to give about seven lakh booster doses. First of all, the booster dose was 60 years old. From now on, 50 year olds will be given booster dose. The Prime Minister has given his approval in this regard."

He said, "Vaccination reduces the risk of death. But the risk of infection does not decrease. This must be kept in mind. So far I have given 14 crore vaccines. The vaccines we have at hand and what we get are more than the vaccines our people need. Wear a mask, follow hygiene rules and get the vaccine on time. The minister requested the government to abide by the 11-point restrictions."

Zahid Maleque further said, "If the booster dose is reduced to 50 years, about 7 million people will have to be given booster dose. That is not a problem for us. We have vaccinated about one crore and seven lakh teachers and students. We have 90.3 million doses of vaccine. Most of those who have registered for vaccination have been vaccinated, there is not much left."

"There are already 1,200 corona patients in the hospital," he said. "If it increases by 5 thousand per day, it will not take long to go from five thousand to seven thousand, 10 thousand at a time. Even if it is 10 percent, one thousand patients will be admitted to the hospital every day. We have a total of 20 thousand beds. Then it won't take long for it to fill up."
