Hotel Eid 622 India returnees celebrate Eid at residential hotels
Dhaka, May 15: Eid celebrations were held at a hotel in Jessore for 622 Bangladeshi passport holders returning from India. The district administration shared the joy of Eid with them amid quarantine at the hotel. In the morning they were provided with good quality breakfast and pulao, chicken and mutton were served in lunch.
They have returned to the country in the last 14 days with special permission through the country's largest land port Benapole due to the closure of the border due to the outbreak of coronavirus. They have to stay in these hotels in a 14-day institutional quarantine as part of government-mandated health regulations.
According to the concerned sources of Jessore district administration, those Bangladeshis who have to return to the country through Benapole port on May 1 and later have to stay at the hotel on Eid day.
According to the Jessore district administration, about 2,800 Bangladeshi passport holders have entered the country through Benapole land port in the last 17 days (April 26 to May 12).
According to sources, 312 people are in quarantine in hotels in Jessore city on Eid day, 10 people in Gazi Dargah in Jhikargachha and another 300 people in hotels in Benapole. In all, 622 people spent Eid in Jessore in quarantine.
The district administration has requisitioned 29 hotels in Jessore district to keep these passport holders in quarantine. Among them are 16 hotels in the city.
These are: Three-Star Quality Residential of Jessore Sheikh Hasina Software Technology Park, Hotel Jabir International, Hotel Orion, Hotel Hasan International, Hotel City Plaza, Hotel Magpie, Hotel RS, Hotel Manihar, Hotel Sonali, Hotel Shahriar, Hotel City, Hotel Balaka, Hotel Nayan, Hotel Newway, Hotel Max and Hotel Prince.
13 more hotels have been taken in Benapole.
These are: Rajnigandha, Portview, Aristocrat, Jewel Residential, Chowdhury Hotel, Nishad Hotel, Fresh Hotel, Nahid Hotel, Hotel Sun City, Mou Hotel, Hotel City, Benapole Tourism and Rahmania Hotel. Besides, there is Gazi's Dargah Madrasa in Jhikargachha.
Meanwhile, district administration sources said that the returnees staying at the hotel in Jessore have been provided vermicelli and firni for breakfast on the morning of Eid. Lunch included pulao, chicken roast, beef / mutton, fruits etc. The district administration has provided food to the hotels in the city.
The Divine Group has been providing food to those in quarantine at Gazi Dargah in Jhikargachha for some time. They also provided food there on the day of Eid. Sharsha MP Sheikh Afil Uddin gave breakfast to those in Benapole. Benapole Mayor Ashraful Alam Liton provided them food at noon on Eid day. Hotel authorities provided the meals at night.
