81,323 people receive second coronavirus vaccine dose on first day

Dhaka, April 9: A nationwide second-dose vaccination campaign against coronavirus infection began on Thursday. On this day, a total of 96,127 people have been vaccinated in different parts of the country. Of them, 14,804 took the first dose of the vaccine and 81,323 took the second dose.

The total number of those vaccinated in the country, including the first and second doses, stood at 56,64,830. A total of 941 of them reported adverse reactions.

This information was given in a press release signed by the Director of the Department of Health, Prof. Dr. Mizanur Rahman on Thursday (April 8).

It added that 9,278 men and 5,526 women received the first dose of corona vaccine on Thursday. Among the second dose vaccinators, 60,528 were males and 20,795 females.

Two of them have reported symptoms of adverse reactions to the vaccine.

Of those vaccinated on Thursday, 32,565 were in the Dhaka division, 5,538 in Mymensingh division, 22,052 in Chittagong division, 6,514 in Rajshahi division, 9,640 in Rangpur Division, 10,351 in Khulna division, 3,848 in Barisal division and 5,619 in Sylhet division.

So far 69,92,790 people have registered for vaccination.

It may be mentioned that the first experimental vaccination program was started on January 27 in the country. Runu Veronica Costa, a senior staff nurse at Kurmitola General Hospital in the capital, received the first vaccination on the same day.

In the first phase, hundreds of people were vaccinated experimentally. After that, the vaccination program started from February 7 all over the country, including the capital.
