823 new books arrived in the first 10 days of the Ekushey Book Fair
Dhaka, 11 February 2024: The tenth day of the Amar Ekushe Book Fair was on Saturday. In these 10 days, 823 new books arrived at the fair.
152 new books arrived on Saturday on the 10th day. Out of which 21 story books, 17 novels, 10 essays and 45 poetry books. This information was informed by Bangla Academy's Public Relations, Information Technology and Training Department on Saturday.
On this day, the book fair starts at 11 am and lasts till 9 pm. Baby watch was from 11 am to 1 pm.
As part of the Amar Ekushe celebrations, a children's and youth music competition was held at the Abdul Karim Sahithabisharad Auditorium of Bangla Academy at 10 am.
About 175 contestants participated in it. Artists Yakub Ali Khan, Chandana Majumder and Suman Majumder were the judges.
At 4 pm, a discussion program titled 'Birth Centenary: Tribute to Suchitra Mitra' was held at the main stage of the book fair. Saim Rana presented the article. Ahmed Shakeel Hasmi and Anima Roy participated in the discussion. Mofidul Haque presided over the event.
Discussants said, Suchitra Mitra was not only a Rabindra Sangeet artist, but also a pioneer warrior of the mass music movement. Music practice was prevalent in his close family atmosphere.
He has continued to practice, develop and perform music in spite of various setbacks in life. Rabindranath's songs gave him strength.
Poets Dilara Hafiz, Chanchal Ashraf and Ranju Raim recited poems at the cultural event. The recital was performed by reciters Animesh Kar, Kazi Bushra Ahmed Tithi, Mizanur Rahman Sajal and Mustaq Ahmed. Fakir Abul Hashem recited Puthi in the cultural program.
