Dhaka, April 22: About 10 months after the inauguration, on the order of the Prime Minister, motorcycle movement has been allowed on the Padma Bridge on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. Although this opportunity came from Thursday (April 20), many bikers are not obeying the instructions of the authorities. Motorcyclists are breaking the rules in various ways, including taking selfies on the bridge. As a result, nine motorcyclists had to pay fines.

On Friday (April 21), the traffic police collected Tk 27,000 as fines from nine motorcyclists for breaking the rules during the Eid journey. Among them, some were standing on the bridge and taking pictures, some were not obeying the lane.

Munshiganj Traffic Inspector Bajlur Rahman confirmed this information and told the media that after the operation at Padma Bridge from 9 am to 11 am, a total of nine people were fined Tk 27,000. Even though there are specific lanes for motorcycle movement, many people are not following it. Many are stopping their motorcycles in the lane and taking selfies. Due to these reasons they were fined as per Road Transport Act 2018.

Subject to certain conditions, the movement of motorcycles on Padma Setu will start from 6 am on Thursday. Among these were the conditions - under no circumstances can photographs be taken while standing on the bridge and one cannot go outside the designated lane. But they are fined under the Traffic Act as they break the conditions.
