90 out of 305 ICU beds vacant in Dhaka

Dhaka, November 28: The number of complex patients infected with coronavirus is increasing in the capital. They are being treated at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after being admitted to the hospital. The number of empty ICU beds in 19 corona dedicated hospitals in Dhaka is decreasing. Out of 305 ICU beds in Dhaka Hospital, only 90 are vacant now. However, at one time the number of empty beds was much higher than the number of patient beds.

This information came up after analysing the regular press release of the Department of Health on Corona on Friday (November 27).

The situation began to deteriorate in mid-May after the first three corona patients were identified in the country on March 8. From the last week of May, the patient identification rate has gone above 20 percent.

This situation continues till the third week of August. However, since then, the detection rate has been declining. For more than a month, the detection rate was between 10 and 12 percent.

However, the detection rate has been increasing since November 2. In the last 24 hours, the corona patient identification rate has increased to 13.88 percent.

According to the Department of Health, among the government hospitals in Dhaka, there are 16 dedicated ICU beds in Kuwait-Bangladesh Friendship Government Hospital, 10 in Kurmitola General Hospital, 10 in Mugda Medical College Hospital and 16 in Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University. All these beds are full of patients.

Besides, there are 22 patients in 24 beds of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, two beds are empty; There are 12 patients in 15 beds of Rajarbagh Police Hospital, three beds are empty; Of the 16 beds in Sheikh Russell Gastroliver Hospital, there are six patients, 10 beds are vacant and the Government Employees Hospital has six patients with three beds, three beds are vacant.

The notification showed zero ICU beds for corona patients at Government Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Infectious Diseases Hospital.

Among the private hospitals, Anwar Khan Modern Hospital has 9 patients out of 10 beds, one bed is vacant; Out of 31 beds in Asgar Ali Hospital, there are 25 patients, six beds are empty; There are 14 patients in the 25 beds of Square Hospital, 11 are empty; Out of 22 beds in United Hospital, there are 14 patients, 8 empty; Impulse Hospital has 14 patients with 56 beds, 42 are empty and AMZ Hospital has 10 ICU beds with six patients, the remaining four beds are empty.
