A 78-pound cake to celebrate President Abdul Hamid's 78th birthday

Dhaka, January 2: President Md. Abdul Hamid's 78th birthday was celebrated in a colorful way in Kishoreganj. Film actor Symon Sadik flew from Dhaka to take part in his grandfather's birthday. On Friday (January 1) afternoon, President's birthday was celebrated by cutting a 78-pound cake at the Narsunda Muktamancha near Gurudayal Government College in Kishoreganj.

Thousands of people rushed to see the formality of the President's birthday standing in and around the open stage.

Apart from cutting the cake, discussions and cultural programs were also organised on the occasion of the President's birthday. In the afternoon, cakes were cut with the guests on the stage built in the shape of a boat on the Narsunda river. Advocate Shah Azizul Haque, convener of the birthday celebration committee, presided over the function.

Police Super Mashrukur Rahman Khaled, District Council Chairman Advocate Zillur Rahman, District Awami League President Advocate Kamrul Ahsan Shahjahan, Kishoreganj Municipality Mayor Md. Parvez Mia, President's youngest son Russell Ahmed Tuhin, filmmaker Symon Sadik and other prominent citizens of the city were present.

President Md. Abdul Hamid was born on January 1, 1944 in Kamalpur village of Mithamin upazila of Kishoreganj.
