Dhaka, October 25: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that the value of a particular group elevates when the country's image gets tarnished globally.

"They don't really want the people of Bangladesh to live with dignity. Due to this, even after so many years of independence, different parts of the country have remained neglected and lagged behind," the Prime Minister said at the inauguration ceremony of the Payra Bridge.

She inaugurated the structure virtually from her official residence.

"Since coming to power in 1996, we have carried out development activities with equal importance to every region of the country," she said.

"After the assassination of Bangabandhu, those who wanted to destroy the country, did not want the people of Bangladesh to stand with their heads held high. But, today everyone respects Bangladesh. It has become a place of dignity in the world."

The Prime Minister said, "It would have been nice if I could have been present at the Payra Bridge myself today, could have driven or walked over the bridge. But it did not happen because of the coronavirus pandemic. But I wish to take the car over the bridge one day and see it closely, if the pandemic situation permits."

The Prime Minister said, "Bangladesh will move forward through improved communication. No one will ever be able to pull us back. Some mishaps are taking place occasionally, they are being done intentionally. You can feel it yourself. They are done so that the image of Bangladesh is ruined. At the same time, propaganda is also carried out."

"The more we improve, the better," she said. "There is a class, they are busy discrediting Bangladesh. What do they want? They do not want the normal democratic process of this country to continue. If there is an unusual situation, then their value increases a little. That is why they cannot withstand development. Rather, they want to destroy. That is the reality. The countrymen have to be careful about this too."

The Prime Minister said, 'We have tackled the coronavirus pandemic. We are vaccinating. No one in Bangladesh will be left out. We will make arrangements so people can stay safe after vaccination. We am gradually opening schools and colleges, so that there is no obstacle for the education of our boys and girls."

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister highlighted various steps taken by her government for the development of Sylhet and Barisal divisions.
