About 4 lakh posts vacant in administration

Dhaka, June 16: The total number of sanctioned posts in the administration is 18,85,868 and there is no manpower in about 4,00,000 posts. There are 15,04,913 posts occupied and a total of 3,80,955 posts lying vacant, according to the the book 'Statistics of Civil Officers and Staffs-2020'- about the statistics of public administration officials and employees in 2020.

The book was published on Tuesday (June 15) by the Statistics and Research Cell of the Public Administration Ministry's Reform and Research Division.

The vacancies include 46,603 first class, 39,028 second class, 1,95,902 third class and 99,422 fourth class posts.

Out of 17,739 posts at the ministry and divisional level, 5,068 are vacant; At the agency and directorate level, out of 14,09,626 posts, 2,33,336 are vacant.

There are 14,851 vacancies in the offices of Divisional Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Assistant Commissioner (Land). The total number of posts here is 47,033.

As of last December, there were 1,27,800 vacancies out of 4,11,480 in autonomous organizations and corporations.

There are no statistics of vacancies in 2019.

In 2018, 3,87,338 posts were vacant.

In 2017, there were 3,93,247 vacancies.

In 2016, the number was 3,59,261.

The total number of officers and employees in the administration is 15,04,913. Of these, 10,90,501 are males and 4,14,412 are females. Women make up 27 percent of the seats.

There are 37,279 women and 1,46,950 men in the first class category.

The second class cetegory consists of 1,22,230 males and 48,536 females.

There are 6,12,184 males and 2,83,133 females in the third class category.

There are 45,464 women and 2,09,137 men in the fourth class category.
