Train Accident Accident caused by negligence of freight train at Bhairab: Station Master
Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 25 October 2023: The driver and guard of the freight train were negligent in the collision of two trains on the Bhairbe railway line in Kishoreganj in which 17 people were killed, said Station Master Md Yusuf. He expressed this opinion in response to questions from reporters on Tuesday afternoon.
The station master said that in addition to the dismissal of three people from the freight train, two investigation committees have been formed. Besides, preparations are underway to form another investigation committee.
He said that since there is no rule for running two trains on one line, the accident must have been caused by the negligence of the freight train. After the incident, the damaged lines were repaired and train movement was restored. Now everything is normal. At present, Egarsindur trains are allowed to run from the station.
A terrible train accident took place at Bhairab on Monday around 3:30 pm. An inter-city Egarsindur Express train collided with a freight train at the outer point of the railway station. Then the rescue operation began. Police, Fire Service, BGB, RAB, Ansar members, local volunteers and Red Crescent members are working in the rescue operation. Till night everyone recovered 17 bodies. Hundreds of passengers were injured in the accident.
At 7:30 pm the freight train was removed and the relief train started working. Three coaches of the overturned Egarsindur train were removed from the line overnight.
