Road Accident Accident kills mother-son duo in Lalmonirhat
Dhaka, November 26: A woman and her son were killed in a bus-autorickshaw collision in Kaliganj upazila of Lalmonirhat.
At least five others, including the driver, were injured in the incident.
The accident took place at Chowdhury junction of Burimari highway in the upazila at 11am on Thursday. Kaliganj police OC Arju Md. Sajjad said this.
The deceased were identified as Manjila Begum, 32, wife of autorickshaw driver Badiuzzaman of Shaulmari village under Upazila Votmari Union and her three-year-old son Sajedul Islam.
Referring to the locals, the OC said, “Badiuzzaman was going to see the patient at Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex in an autorickshaw with his wife and child. Manjila died on the spot when a bus hit the autorickshaw on the way."
After rescuing the five injured, they were taken to the Upazila Health Complex where the doctors on duty declared Sajedul dead.
Meanwhile, the driver fled with the bus after the accident, the police official said.
