Dhaka, November 11: Hasan Ali Sardar, 25, who was sentenced to one year in a case under the Narcotics Control Act in Satkhira, has been given an opportunity to amend himself as the court sent him to 'probation' at his house, instead of sending him to jail. But this time he has to fulfill five conditions.

Satkhira Judicial Magistrate Second Court Judge Yasmin Nahar passed the order at noon on Tuesday (November 10).

Accused Hasan Ali Sardar is the son of Md. Rajab Ali Sardar, a resident of Bhadra village in Satkhira Sadar Upazila. Advocate ATM Fakhrul Alam and advocate Shamsul Bari represented the accused in the case.

Defendant's lawyer Advocate ATM Fakhrul Alam said that the accused Hasan Ali Sardar was given one year probation in the case of GR 43/15 (TR 29/18) on Tuesday. However, the accused has to abide by five conditions.

The conditions are- 1) Do not use any kind of drugs or intoxicants 2) Do not mix with any bad partner 3) Plant 10 trees during probation 4) Serve parents and 5) Campaign against drugs at least once a week .

He has been ordered to go to jail again if he violates the conditions. On the other hand, if the probationary conditions are fulfilled properly, the sentence of one year will be canceled.

Defendant's lawyer ATM Fakhrul Alam said it was a significant order of the Satkhira court recently. The probationary officer of Satkhira Social Service Office has been given the responsibility to monitor whether the convicted accused is abiding by the conditions or not. After three months, the social service probationary officer has been asked to submit a report to the court.
