Dhaka, June 6, 2023: If foreign ambassadors cross the boundaries of their work, the government will take necessary measures into account, said State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md. Shahriar Alam.

The state minister said this in response to questions from journalists at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday afternoon.

In response to the question of whether Japanese ambassador Iwama Kiminori's meeting with BNP leaders and CEC involved interference in the internal affairs of Bangladesh, Shahriar Alam said, "I do not know the details."

"If a country's ambassador again engages in activities that we consider to be overstepping the bounds of their duties, we will certainly take necessary action into consideration. But so far we have not seen anything like this," he said.

As the elections are approaching, the activities of lobbyists regarding Bangladesh have increased, the state minister said that they will do their work.

"We will do our work," he said.

As the Prime Minister always says, the people of Bangladesh are our strength.

"Motivated by patriotism, we have worked for the people of the country, people will judge whether we have done right or wrong. Awami League does not believe in the policy of leaving the people of Bangladesh behind by going ahead with any such policy, by giving dharna to a foreigner, under pressure from someone or having to maintain the relationship with him till the end," he said.

On the 'Akhand Bharat' map in India's newly built Parliament building, he said that some countries including Bangladesh were shown as part of India's map. That is why mainstream media has a lot of responsibility.

India's External Affairs Ministry spokesperson said it was the Ashokan Empire.
