Dhaka, 24 December 2023: Election Commissioner Anishur Rahman said that he will do everything necessary for free, fair and impartial elections.

At the same time leaflets are being distributed not to go to the polling station - action will be taken if it is noticed.

He said, "No one is being given any exemption. I see everyone the same, big and small. In that case we have decided to take a neutral stand. There is a neutral position in the field. There is no apprehension, fear or favour. No one will be spared because we are extremely neutral."

Anishur Rahman said these things while talking to the journalists at the election building on Saturday 23rd December. Independent candidates cannot stand in the field.

In response to the question why the candidates of the ruling party can't follow the code of conduct, he said, "We can't, I can't agree with this statement. In the meantime, I am visiting different districts. Code of Conduct is being implemented. Today too we discussed some tough decisions. I would like some more information. If you get (that information) tomorrow Sunday, you will see that I will go to some tough decisions. A supporter of an independent candidate has died. We will go to a tough decision."

In response to the question why the police are neglecting him, he said, "The incident I heard is that he was going from his house to some place in the morning, and he was attacked on the way. They both belong to the same clan, they are related."

"A few days ago there was an incident between them, whether it was because of that or because of the election, we are looking into these matters. Due to the election, many people are also bringing up the issue of personal enmity. We will watch with impartiality. Here anyone's death is unwanted. We don't want a death like this, even a single death. I give enough importance to that. Give me some time. You will see the rest," he said.
