Dhaka, April 5: Prime Minister and Leader of the House Sheikh Hasina has said her government will not tolerate un-Islamic activities such as arson, attacks and vandalism in the name of Islam. The Prime Minister also promised to take legal action against those involved in the crime. "All I can say is that legal action will be taken against those responsible for such misdeeds," she said.

"It is unacceptable that for some people Islam will be discredited," she said. "Legal action will be taken against those involved in such misdeeds. It is never acceptable for those who talk about religion, continue to say the name of Islam and do unrighteous deeds."

The Prime Minister and Leader of the House Sheikh Hasina said this in her closing address of the 12th session of the Eleventh National Assembly on Sunday. On the occasion of the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation and the golden jubilee of independence, the Prime Minister blamed the Hefazat leaders for the anarcy and their call for strikes across the country.

She said, "They are responsible for the loss of many lives on March 26. So, I will just say that the countrymen should be a little patient. I have the details. We all have to move forward with patience."

The Prime Minister said, "It is a sad thing that we are celebrating the golden jubilee of independence. The events that took place at that time are very sad. The most surprising thing is that many foreign guests are coming to celebrate the golden jubilee of independence and the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib. We are getting messages from everyone from the Queen of Britain to the King of Saudi Arabia. Bangladesh is getting such a great honor. Who couldn't be happier?"

She said, "The Prime Minister of India was supposed to come on March 26. He should not be allowed to come, why was he prevented? Hefazat-e-Islam conducts programs. Don't they go to Deoband to get education. Did they even think about it?"

The Prime Minister said, "We are giving certificates to the Qawmi Madrasas. We have arranged their education, we are fixing their curriculum. We are also arranging for them to get jobs in the country and abroad. But why did they commit this atrocity?"
