Administration keeping strict watch as Kushtia lockdown begins

Dhaka, June 12: The district administration is in a strict position in the lockdown starting from today in Kushtia district where the coronavirus infection has increased at an alarming rate. The ban starts at 12 midnight on Saturday (June 12) for seven days. Strict restrictions will continue until midnight on June 18.

On Saturday (June 12), Kushtia Deputy Commissioner Md Saidul Islam said a seven-day curfew had been imposed in the Kushtia municipal area to prevent coronavirus infection.

It has been decided to close all the shops in the Kushtia municipality area except the raw market and drug stores for one week. At the same time, strict instructions have been given to follow the hygiene rules. The directive has been implemented since Saturday morning. The police and the administration will be in a tough position against those who break the law during the restrictions. All types of traffic will be closed in Kushtia Municipality during the restrictions.

As seen in the morning, law enforcement has a strict position at every important street corner in the district town. No vehicles are plying on the road except emergency transport. If anyone comes out without the need, the responsible police officers are sending them home. In case of emergency, everyone is requested to wear a mask and go out at a safe distance.

No shops, other than the emergency drug store, were seen opening in the town. All kinds of businesses, shopping malls, shops, restaurants are closed in the city. But the raw market and daily necessities shops are open from 8 am to 2 pm.

Dr. HM Anwarul Islam, Civil Surgeon of Kushtia, said that in the last 24 hours, samples of 205 people have been tested in the district and the coronavirus has been identified in the bodies of 61 people. The detection rate was 30 percent. In the last 7 days, 355 people have been infected with the virus in the district. So far, a total of 5,494 people have been affected in the district. In all, the death toll in the district is 130.
