Own correspondent, Dhaka, 2 September 2023: Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen said, "When Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family were killed on August 15, 1975, no country spoke of humanity." He said, "When the murderers killed Bangabandhu and other members of his family on August 15, 1975, no country in the world sang the song of humanity. They did not send condolence messages for their death. Today, many countries shout for humanity. But when so many people were killed, Not a single word was heard from anyone's mouth."

He said these things in the president's speech at a discussion meeting and prayer program organized by Bangabandhu Foundation on the occasion of National Mourning Day-2023 at Tejgaon College Auditorium in the capital on Thursday afternoon.

Referring to the infamous Indemnity Ordinance, the foreign minister said, "A black law was made that the murder of Bangabandhu cannot be prosecuted. I do not know that there is such a black law anywhere in the history of the world that a murderer cannot be prosecuted." He said, "Bangabandhu's daughter Sheikh Hasina came to the government after 21 years of struggle and abolished this black law and freed the stigma of the nation by organizing the trial of Bangabandhu's murder."

Dr. Momen said, "After the killing of Bangabandhu, four national leaders were also killed inside the jail. The aim was to completely uproot those who believed in the spirit of freedom."

The foreign minister also said, "The parties who are against us believe in terrorism and murder and they did this when they came to government."

Presenting the image of the country during the BNP-Jamaat government, the foreign minister said, "Militism and terrorism spread in the country from 2001 to 2006. Bangla Bhai emerged with government support. They killed people by publicly hanging them from trees. They bombed together in 63 districts out of 64 districts of Bangladesh. Trial in court. During the bombardment, people were killed. A foreign ambassador went to the shrine in Sylhet and there was also a grenade attack and three policemen were killed. Half a hundred were injured, including the ambassador."

He said, "On August 21, 2004, during the anti-terrorist peace rally, an attempt was made to kill Awami League leaders including Sheikh Hasina. 24 people were killed and about 300 were injured."
