Bangladesh Education All govt colleges will be under local universities
Own Correspondent, Dhaka, June 1: In order to improve the quality of education, under the direction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, all undergraduate government colleges across the country are being brought under local universities. This activity will start soon.
Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education Md. Abu Bakar Siddique said this to reporters after visiting Dhaka College in the capital on Tuesday (May 31).
The Secretary said that the Prime Minister has already directed to affiliate all the honors level government colleges across the country to local universities. At present, seven government colleges in the capital have been affiliated to Dhaka University. Similarly, government colleges of Chittagong division will be given under Chittagong University. It will be implemented across the country in phases.
Mentioning that the quality of education in seven colleges of the capital has increased a lot after their affiliation to the Dhaka University, he said that the traditional curriculum has changed after the affiliation to Dhaka University. However, the infrastructure benefits remain the same. As the number of students has increased, so has the classroom problem. Attempts are being made to resolve those crises.
He further said that bringing government colleges under the purview of the university would improve the quality of education. Public universities will be able to monitor the quality of education in government colleges. Now there are so many government colleges across the country that it is not possible to run them from Dhaka. Therefore, the Prime Minister has instructed us to affiliate the colleges with the local public universities and with this in mind, many more public universities are being set up at the district level.
Regarding the development of infrastructure of Dhaka College, he said, there is a plan to implement a master plan for the development of Dhaka College. As the first and traditional college in the country, we have a different passion for it. Our expectation is that the infrastructure and overall environment of this college will be the most beautiful of all the colleges.
