All preparations underway to conduct medical admission test on April 2

Dhaka, March 18: Admission test for the first year (2020-21 academic year) of MBBS course of government and private medical colleges across the country including the capital will be held on April 2. During the outbreak of the pandemic coronavirus, all preparations are underway to take the test properly in accordance with the necessary hygiene rules. For the first time in the history of the country, a record number of 1,22,874 students will sit for the admission test this time.

Dr. AKM Ahsan Habib, Director (Medical Education and Manpower Development) of the department said that all the necessary work including preparation of question papers, printing, preparation of examination centers and formation of inspection team is being carried out under the supervision of the department.

On Thursday, Professor Dr AKM Ahsan Habib said many parents and students were concerned about the recent rise in coronary heart disease. Many of them want to know whether the examination will be held by visiting the office of the directorate in Mohakhali or by contacting them on their mobile phones.

Professor Dr. Ahsan Habib said, "Until now, the admission test will be held on the pre-announced day on April 2. All the necessary activities for this purpose are moving forward fast.

'If the coronavirus infection rate is too high, the test can be postponed according to instructions from the upper echelons of the government. However, there is no indication to change the date of the exam till today (March 18).

The number of candidates in last year's admission test was about 72,000. But this time, even in the case of corona infection, thousands of candidates have applied. Therefore, more importance is being given to the necessary hygiene rules. Last year, admission test was taken in 28 venues across the country, but this year, the test will be taken in 55 venues.

At present there are 37 government run medical colleges in the country. The total number of seats in these is 4,350. This year, more than 28 people will contest for one seat.
