Dhaka, January 25: Information Minister and Awami League joint general secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud has said that the alliance with India is very helpful in the development of Bangladesh. The minister made the remarks on Sunday (January 24) at noon at the CIRDAP auditorium in the capital on the occasion of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose's 125th birthday celebrations in Bangladesh.

Paying homage to Netaji, the Information Minister said there are some political forces in Bangladesh whose main political agenda is anti-India. The development of this country is not possible by keeping hostile relations with the neighboring three-border countries. Those who do politics with anti-India as their main theme are actually going in the wrong direction. Progress lies in friendship.

Hassan Mahmud said, "We are working towards the development of the region by strengthening the alliance that we are moving forward, and by expanding our regional and people-to-people contacts."

Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Former Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddiqui presided over the function. High Commissioner of India Vikram Kumar Doraiswami, Chairman of Bangladesh Press Institute Abed Khan, President of Bangabandhu Research Council Uttam Barua and Member Secretary of the organizing body Ashraful Islam addressed the seminar as special guests.

Apart from paying homage to the memory of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, the Information Minister also paid deep tribute to the memory of 26,000 fighters of the Azad Hind Fauj who gave their lives in the freedom struggle of India at Netaji's call.

He said, "Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose's contribution to the freedom struggle of the subcontinent will always be written in gold."

Noting that the Bangladesh-India alliance led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached new heights today, the Information Minister said, "India's gift of 2 million vaccines is a unique example of love and friendship. Not all Indians have received the vaccine yet. I thank the Government of India for that. "

In his speech, Indian High Commissioner Doraiswamy termed the celebration of Netaji's birth anniversary in Bangladesh as a very touching event and hoped that the close relations between the two countries would be closer.
