Dhaka, April 14: Asked about Indian Home Minister and former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Amit Shah's recent comment about Bangladesh, Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen has said that the knowledge of Indian Minister about the latter's country is limited and the scope of his knowledge should be increased.

Momen said that Bangladesh is not far behind India, as claimed by Shah, but in some cases Bangladesh is far ahead of the neighbouring country.

Abdul Momen said such comments are not acceptable when the relationship between Bangladesh and India is so deep. And such comments create confusion about.

Amit Shah told Anandabazar on Tuesday that the poor people of Bangladesh still do not get food, so they come to India. If BJP comes to power in West Bengal, infiltration from Bangladesh will be stopped.

Asked to comment on Amit Shah's remarks, Foreign Minister Abdul Momen said, "There are many wise people in the world who do not see, do not know. But if he (Amit Shah) said that, I would say, his knowledge about Bangladesh is limited. In our country now no one dies without eating."

Referring to Bangladesh being ahead in many social indicators, Abdul Momen said, "Fifty per cent of the people in India do not have a good toilet. And 90 per cent of us use a good toilet. If they think like that, I would say they need to increase their knowledge."

"There is a shortage of jobs for educated people in my country. But there is no shortage of jobs for less educated people. And more than one lakh people in India work in Bangladesh. So we don't need to go to India."
