Another 21 people succumb to Covid-19 in Bangladesh

Dhaka, October 19: Twenty one more people have died in a single day due to coronavirus infection in the country and 1,637 new patients have been identified. The latest information on the coronavirus situation in the country was issued by the Department of Health in a press release on Monday afternoon.

It said the total number of people infected with the coronavirus in the country was 390,206, with 1,637 people identified as of 8am.

The total number of deaths due to coronavirus in the country stood at 5,681 with 21 people dying in the last one day.

According to the Department of Health, another 1,627 patients undergoing treatment at home and in the hospital have recovered in the last one day.

The total number of healthy patients has increased to 305,599 people.

The first case of coronavirus was detected in Bangladesh on March 8, and it crossed 350,000 on September 21. Of these, 4,019 Covid-19 patients were identified on July 2, which is the highest in a single day.

On March 18, 10 days after the first patient was identified, the Department of Health confirmed the first death report in the country.

On October 10, it stood at five and a half thousand. Of these, 64 deaths were reported in a single day on June 30, the highest death toll in a single day.

According to the Department of Health, 15,146 samples have been tested in 110 labs across the country in the last 24 hours.

So far 2,178,714 samples have been tested.

Considering the sample test in 24 hours, the detection rate is 10.81 percent, so far the total detection rate is 17.91 percent.

The recovery rate is 78.32 percent and the death rate is 1.46 percent.
