Another 46 succumb to Covid-19 in Khulna division

Dhaka, July 10: In the Khulna division, another 46 people died of coronavirus in the last 24 hours. At the same time, 772 people tested positive for the deadly virus. Earlier on Friday (July 9), 71 people had died in the division. In all, the total death toll in the Khulna has now crossed 1,500.

Rasheda Sultana, director of the divisional health department, confirmed the information to Dhaka Post on Saturday (July 10).

According to the health director's office, 18 people have died in Kushtia district in the last 24 hours, the highest among all districts in the division. The rest are 10 each in Khulna and Jessore, four in Jhenaidah and two deaths each in Meherpur and Narail.

The first coronavirus patient in the Khulna division was identified in Chuadanga on March 19, 2020. A total of 69,959 people have been identified in 10 districts of the department since the onset of coronavirus infection till Friday morning. A total of 1,533 people have died of the infection, while 45,252 others have recovered.

An analysis of district-wise coronavirus data from the Department of Health shows that 161 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus in Khulna district in the last 24 hours. So far, 18,355 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus in the district. The district death toll stands at 402, while 12,466 people have recovered.

In Bagerhat, 12 new coronavirus patients have been identified, taking the total to 4,421 people have been identified in the district. Ninety-eight people have died so far with 3,037 people making recoveries.

In Satkhira, 37 new patients have been identified in the last 24 hours. A total of 4,223 cases and 76 deaths have been identified in the districtso far. A total of 3,042 people have recovered till date.

Jessore reported 251 new cases in the last 24 hours. A total of 15,164 cases, 212 deaths and 9,095 recoveries have been reported in the district, so far.

In the last 24 hours, 31 people have been identified as coronavirus positive in Narail, taking the total to 3,342 people. A total of 60 people have died and 2,326 have recovered so far in the district.
