Another 47 Vietnam returnees freed

Dhaka, 6 October: Another 47 prisoners who returned from Vietnam have been released. They were released from Kashimpur Central Jail in Gazipur on Tuesday afternoon by a court order. Recently, 106 Bangladeshis returned to the country after being cheated in Vietnam. After returning to the country, they were supposed to go to their respective homes at the end of the official quarantine, but the Turag police arrest them.

Nur Mohammad, Jailer of Kashimpur Central Jail-1, said 19 of the Vietnamese returnees were sent to the jail on September 5. The court ordered their release. After checking it, they were released this afternoon.

Kashimpur Central Jail-2's Jailer Md. Abu Sayem said 32 people were locked on September 1. Orders have been issued for the release of 26 of them. A copy of the order was verified and they were released from jail on Tuesday afternoon. The items brought with them at that time have also been explained.

Shafiqul Islam Khan, senior jail superintendent at Kashimpur High Security Central Jail, said a man was released around 12 noon.

Earlier on Saturday, 20 people were released from the jail on a court order, he said.
